Google Apps for Government

When a company decides to update its email and document management infrastructure there are many questions and concerns that need to be addressed before any decisions are made. The obvious issues being cost, re-training of employees, new maintenance strategies and security models.

From it's beginning Google Apps has provided these services at a cost below its competitors, eliminated infrastructure maintenance, and provided a robust system that minimizes all future re-training of employees. This week, Google has announced another step forward in it's hosted platform, Google Apps for Government.

Google Apps for Government is a brand new edition of Google Apps geared towards the needs of federal, state and local governments. With this offering, Google Apps became the first cloud computing platform to receive a Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) certification from the U.S. Government.

If you have lingering security concerns about using Google Apps for your business, knowing that it is secure enough for the U.S. Government should help to put those issues to rest.
